COLOSSEO: IL SIMBOLO DELLA CITTA' ETERNA
Domenica 1 marzo. E' la prima domenica domenica del mese e secondo l'iniziativa del Ministero dei Beni Culturali i monumenti sono gratis quindi abbiamo deciso di dedicare questa giornata alla visiti del principale monumento di Roma e d'Italia, uno di più antichi monumenti del mondo.
Stiamo parlando del Colosseo altrimenti detto Anfiteatro Flavio.
Cenni storici
Il Colosseo, originariamente conosciuto come Amphitheatrum Flavium, è il più grande anfiteatro del mondo con la capacità di ospitare tra le 50 000 e le 75 000 unità di spettatori.
E' il simbolo della città di Roma nonchè il primo simbolo d'Italia.
La sua costruzione fu iniziata da Vespasiano nel 72 d.C. ed inaugurato da Tito nell'80, con ulteriori modifiche apportate durante il regno di Domiziano.
L'ultimo spettacolo tenuto nel Colosseo è stato nel 253 d.C.
L'edificio forma un'ellisse di 527 m di perimetro, con assi che
misurano 187,5 e 156,5 m. L'arena all'interno misura 86 × 54 m, con una
superficie di 3.357 m². L'altezza attuale raggiunge 48,5 m, ma
originariamente arrivava a 52 m.Anticamente era usato per gli spettacoli di gladiatori e altre manifestazioni pubbliche come spettacoli di caccia e rievocazioni di battaglie famose.
Oggi il Colosseo viene illuminato ogni volta che si sospende una pena capitale nel mondo.

Approfittando della bella giornata che forniva ieri la capitale abbiamo goduto della magnificenza del simbolo più famoso del mondo che mostra l'eternità della città di Roma.
L'atmosfera all'interno del Colosseo è indescivibile, trasuda storia ad ogni angolo ed è come essere catapultata a migliaia di anni fa.
La fila per l'entrata è stata molto lunga ma ne è di certo valsa la pena.

The atmosphere inside the Colosseum is indescivibile, exudes history at every corner and it is like being catapulted back thousands of years ago.
The queue for entry was very long but it was certainly worth it.
